Internships - Job Ready Program
Internships
Performance Education has its own in-house internships division dedicated to placing international and local students into work experience placements in Australian host companies.
The participating interns are students nearing graduation or recent graduates looking to build their work experience to kick start their careers. The intern trains in a host company for a period of approximately 3 months in order to gain valuable Australian work experience.
The host companies are leading Australian organisations that provide the interns with a supportive work environment and on the job training during the internship period.
Our students have found internship placements to be extremely useful to build practical work experience in their resumes, further improve their communication skills to a level appropriate for professional appointment and develop their industry based network in Australia.
Internships are available for these industries and many others:
- Accounting
- Information Technology
- Sales & Marketing
- Law
- Engineering
- Business Administration
- Transport & Tourism
Job Ready Package
The Job Ready Package combines Professional Business English with an internship in an Australian host company.
Internships will often be preceded by a period in Business English tuition to build confidence and allow time for orientation in Australia before the practical work placement commences.
The program combines 2 complementary subjects:
- English for the Professional Workplace
- International and Australian specific Business Culture
The curriculum combines these concepts to ensure that participants build their confidence and understanding of both content (what to say) and form (how to say it) within an international workplace context.
International Business Culture explores workplaces values in a wide variety of countries including Australia, to build understanding of local behavioural traits for effective communication. Major topics include:
- Cultural values and understanding
- Behavioural platforms and self-awareness
- Group dynamics in the workplace
- Non-verbal communication signals
- Formal presentation skills
