IELTS 7.0 Test Preparation

The IELTS 7.0 Test Preparation Program is designed for preparation and completion of the IELTS Test - General Training module. Please note this is not the academic module for university but this is the preferred IELTS module for applicants for permanent residency and citizenship as required by DIAC. 
The curriculum has been designed by experienced English language professionals and IELTS examiners to maximise your improvement as you prepare for the test. The IELTS course aims to prepare students for the IELTS General Training exam by improving student:

  • English language macro skills in the areas of Reading, Writing, Listening and Speaking
  • sub-skills in the areas of pronunciation, grammar and vocabulary
  • knowledge of the test format & procedures
  • knowledge of question types
  • ability to answer questions appropriately
  • test taking strategies
  • confidence in taking the test

The course will enable students to practice exam skills and techniques required by the IELTS examination.

Flexible IELTS Class Timetable 

The class focuses on one skill each day. Students are able to join the class full time and improve all of their skills or part time to develop their skills. The skills are delivered each day as follows:

  • Monday - Writing
  • Tuesday - Speaking
  • Wednesday - Reading
  • Thursday - Listening

Learner Outcomes 

At the end of the course, students will: 

  • be familiar with the structure of the IELTS test
  • be familiar with and develop strategies to complete the main task types in each of the four test modules
  • respond to a situation, by writing a letter for example, requesting information or explaining a situation (at least 150 words in 20 minutes)
  • write an essay in response to a point of view, argument or problem (at least 250 words in 40 minutes) - including introduction, body and conclusion - expressing an opinion supported by personal experience, knowledge and relevant evidence
  • speak on familiar topics in short question and answer form; one topic in the form of a two-minute speech; and more abstractly develop the same topic in the form of a discussion
  • successfully identify and listen for keywords, specific information, main points (gist) in the context of semi-formal and formal listening tasks; in a conversation identify the key participants and their relationships, the location and purpose of the interaction; predict and interpret information from a given context 
  • skim and scan texts for specific information; summarise texts identifying main and supporting ideas; separate essential from non-essential information based on what questions are asking; distinguish between argument and fact  
  • have a working knowledge of the IELTS key topics
  • be able to aim for the equivalent of at least a 7 band score on a full IELTS Test (as demonstrated by performance results on the final full test) which pre-supposes that they are able to:

-  demonstrate an operational command of the language, though with occasional
   inaccuracies, inappropriacies and misunderstandings in some situations

-  handle complex language well and understand detailed reasoning

-  communicate at length fluently, clearly and interestingly in speaking and writing
   tasks using, with flexibility, a range of appropriate cohesive devices; a good
   control of grammar and a variety of complex sentence structures; a range of
   appropriate vocabulary; an awareness of style and  register and a good control
   of punctuation

- answer the question concisely without irrelevant divergences

 

Smart IELTS Curriculum Design

Our IELTS classes are designed in two parts. The first part of the class will concentrate on level building exercises in the nominated area for that day, while the second part of the class will focus on test practice.  IELTS PRE TEST DESIGN Performance Education is also an accredited IELTS Pre Test Centre. This means that we are able to administer real IELTS test which are marked by actual IELTS examiners. This provides you with the most accurate scores that are possible without the time and expense of sitting the actual IELTS test.
